FAQs
Advancement to pointe levels within our Ballet Academy is by invitation only. Each student is carefully evaluated by our experienced instructors to confirm they have the necessary strength, technique, and maturity for pointework. This selective process allows us to maintain a safe and supportive environment for all dancers progressing to pointe.
Dancers should wear a leotard, ballet tights, and either ballet slippers or properly fitted pointe shoes, depending on their level. Hair should be neatly secured in a bun. We recommend speaking with your instructor about specific attire guidelines and ensuring pointe shoes are correctly fitted to prevent injury.
Ballet Academy classes are typically held once or twice a week, depending on the student’s level and schedule. Consistent attendance is essential to gradually build strength and technique, particularly for those working towards or currently dancing en pointe. Dancers are encouraged to practice outside of class to reinforce progress.
Readiness for pointe varies based on a dancer’s physical development, strength, and technique, rather than age alone. Generally, students are considered for pointe around age 12 or older. Our staff will make personalized recommendations based on each dancer’s progress and preparedness.
Supporting your child at home can include providing a space to practice basic exercises and stretches, encouraging a balanced diet and plenty of rest, and celebrating their achievements in class. Your encouragement helps them stay motivated and resilient throughout their dance journey.
